The four phases

Each phase has a distinct purpose and a distinct deliverable. The loop runs continuously which is what lets a function keep climbing rather than stalling after an initial intervention.

Diagnose

Understand where the function stands. Breadth, scope, maturity across six pillars, and the priorities and pressures in the function head's own words. The view from elevation before the climb.

Design

Set the strategy. What to change, what to stop, what to sequence, and why in that order. Deliberately bespoke the judgment is the product. Follows Diagnose at both scales.

Stand up the designed solution so it is adopted. At stream level a whole-function redesign is not delivered in one go, it is delivered stream by stream, in sequence, each one building on the last.

How the model is designed to work

Diagnose always precedes Design

At both scales. A Function Design follows a Function Diagnostic. A Stream Design follows a Stream Diagnostic. Either can be a standalone entry point if the client already has sufficient context at the other scale but the sequence is never reversed.

The function head owns delivery

A whole-function redesign is not something a consultant delivers. The GC or Head of Legal owns the change programme. Mind Frame provides the intelligence, the design, and stream-level delivery support not a substitute for mandate.

Map, not judgment

The maturity assessment orients it does not grade or shame. There are no bad cairns. The only mistake is not knowing where you are. Every finding is framed as a starting point for the next move, not a verdict on what came before.
